Dave Taylor has over 35 years experience of digital development and marketing in both the public and private sectors. Until 2002 he was Vice President for a multinational manufacturer, where he was responsible for e-commerce and web marketing in over 25 countries. In 2003 he joined the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) where he was responsible for knowledge transfer and marketing communications for NPL’s professional services for the NHS. In this role Dave supported scientists in their use of social media tools, and developed and produced NPL’s first podcasts in early 2006.

In 2007/8 he provided digital media support for Lord Darzi’s healthcare consultations for NHS London and the NHS Next Stage Review, subsequently joining Imperial College’s Faculty of Medicine to manage technology-based research projects in healthcare quality improvement and patient safety.

His recent work includes a “Quantified-Self” study using machine learning software to analyse physical activity data transmitted over the internet from patients’ smartphones and an iPad-based app that facilitates communication within surgical teams and between the team and their patients.
